What actually happened
Windows 10 arrived with no Windows Media Center at all. No upgrade path, no replacement, just a quiet funeral for everyone using a PC as a cable card DVR and living room machine. The closest thing to an explanation was that CableLabs certification is difficult. Media Center fans simply stayed on Windows 7 and 8 for years. Some of them are probably still there.
