Xbox held an emergency podcast to announce that everything is fine
Microsoft confirmed four Xbox exclusives going to PlayStation and Switch

What actually happened
After weeks of rumors that Xbox was going third party, Microsoft booked a special edition podcast for February 15, 2024 so Phil Spencer could personally explain that everything was fine and also that four first party exclusives were shipping on PlayStation and Switch. Hi-Fi Rush, Pentiment, Grounded and Sea of Thieves crossed over that spring, while Microsoft insisted this was not a change to its fundamental exclusive strategy. Maybe so. The customers who bought the console for the exclusives did the math anyway, and the math was portable.
